Join the Wildcats: A Tradition of Excellence
If you're interested in playing Northwestern Rugby, fill out the survey below, email us, or just show up at practice!
Why play rugby?
It's fun, physical, and memorable. Rugby is a growing sport in the USA and globally is very strong for its combination of football-like and soccer-like attributes. Many people switch from basketball,
football, soccer, etc. to rugby and never look back.
I've never played before, can I still join?
Northwestern Rugby is made up of players of all experience levels. Most members didn't play in high school and picked it up for the first time in college. Many are converted football players, while others played are simply looking to keep competing athletically after high school sports. As long as you're committed to the physical nature of the sport, you'll be fine! We'll help you learn the basics and you'll pick up on it quickly through practice. We have both "A" and "B" games against WIIL opponents, so all members of the team will have plenty of opportunities to gain experience through playing!
Are there tryouts for the team?
Northwestern Rugby is a Club Sport, and so is open to all players from any level of experience. To join the team, simply email Harry Forbes or Joe Sichel to tell them about your interest, or show up to one of our practices (more information below).

What are the fees?
Northwestern Rugby is a club sport, so we have to charge dues to help pay for the cost of each season. The amount varies, and pays for transportation, referees, post-game socials, and other team events. Northwestern Men's Rugby is proud to consistently have among the lowest dues for any Club Sport offered at Northwestern.
There is also a $50 fee to register for membership of USA Rugby.
